Patio Covers & RV Lot Shade in Wellton, AZ

About 3,200 full-time residents and a winter population several times that. Wellton runs on the snowbird calendar, and so does the shade work out here.

29 miles east, and worth the drive

Wellton sits 29 miles east of Yuma on I-8. Plenty of contractors treat that as out of range, which is why folks out here get quoted like it's an expedition. We work the corridor regularly — the Foothills sit between us and Wellton, so the truck is already headed that direction most weeks.

Built around winter residents

Wellton is explicitly snowbird-oriented: abundant RV parks, park model communities, and two golf destinations in Coyote Wash and Butterfield keeping people outdoors from November through spring. The town's full-time population of roughly 3,200 swells substantially with seasonal residents.

That means most of the shade work here is on lots, not lots of houses — carport-style awnings over the RV pad, roof-overs on park models, covers on leased and owned resort spaces. All of that runs under Arizona's Office of Manufactured Housing rules for accessory structures plus whatever the park's own approval process requires.

Timing is the whole game

If you're here October through April, the structure should be measured and submitted early in your stay. Approvals take time, and nobody wants to spend their season waiting on paperwork. Owners who leave for the summer often prefer we schedule work while they're gone so it's finished on arrival — either sequence works, but it has to be planned, not improvised.

A town with some history to it

Wellton grew up along the Butterfield Overland stage route, and that heritage still shows up in local identity — Pioneer Day remains the event on the calendar. Small-town, agricultural, and quietly full of people who have been wintering here for decades.
